that is such a badass thing, to study the molecular structure of psychedelics! that kind of goes along with a lifelong goal of mine. I am currently in medical school and i want to expose the world to the potential benefits of psychedelic medicine, because psychedelics have help me more than i could possibly hope to explain. they helped me come from going to high school drunk, not caring about the world, and brung me all the way to making straight A’s in college. there are soo many plants that could prove to help the world! for example, syrian rue,… Read more »

You’re not the only one, biochemist here. We will make this psychedelic embracing version of the world in our heads come to life.

yes and thats exactly what needs to happen, because there are numerous pathological problems that can easily be solved through psychedelic treatment, especially mental ones. The field of mental health is extremely under developed and it is evident when you look at the amount of people who are being treated for depression and OCD and many other mental disorders with medicine that ultimately does damage to parts of the brain. For example, many antipsychotic medications actually cause shrinkage in certain parts of the brain, such as the grey matter in the long run. Not only is it damaging to the… Read more »

Yeah, man. I am also studying in medical university and face with the problem of ineffectivity or side effects of different legal drugs. Clinical trialshow that psylocibin and cannabis could easily solve some of these issues but in our country even discussions about that are almost forbidden

YES! this is precisely the problem that I am talking about! We have all of these harmful legal chemicals that treat problems half as good as the illegal compounds that could possibly cause much much less harm. Studies are showing that ONE SINGLE DOSE of psilocin could have numerous positive effects on anxiety and depression for months afterwards! It just astounds and baffles me, making me want to take a stand, and it makes me feel so much joy that there are likeminded who want to do the same.

I’m sorry to say, I don’t like the way you communicate with this very interesting guy. You were not with your full attention on him (no mindfullness) and cut him off so many times. When I was interested in hearing his explanations you jumped in with “oh yea right, I’ve seen this…..”etc so many times, bringing in your own thought, probably thinking to reassure him and connect by saying you think/have done the same but doing the opposite of connecting… not only as an interviewer, it’s nice to let people finish what they want to say (after all it’a about… Read more »
Dude. There was a line-up of people waiting to speak with me. I was being kind by letting them know I noticed they wanted to speak with me. This wasn’t done in an isolated room with just the two of us. Ideally I would have liked to give my full attention, this just wasn’t an ideal scenario. I think your assumptions here are waaay off. Thanks for taking the time to comment though, I appreciate all feedback.

I agree. At one point Adam went to greet some dude who was watching, effectively putting the interviewee on hold. Very rude.

We need him on the podcast and I think he should get more publicity. That guy could be one of the key people(like you, Adam <3) amongst the psychedelic movement. This has to be one of the most informative interview I've ever seen + I got answers to so many questions I didn't even know to ask. The podcast would be a game changer! All the best to you Mr. Psychy-Subby
Great interview. I really like this guy, he has so much to say and a really interesting professional future. Invite him for a video or podcast. Really enjoyable conversation

I’m looking for a psychedelic band Adam recommended, gosh, a few years ago at this point. It was something that started with an S, it was super trippy and I loved it but since then I’ve forgotten their name. Anyone have any ideas?

I’ve only just discovered this website and found it interesting to watch. I’ve never done psychedelics however being in the rave scene I’ve frequently dabbled with MDMA. It’s funny you saying about the potential length or a trip with Acid, I was at Creamfields (UK) in 2013 and one of the guys with us took Acid, it was about noon, he ended up tripping out the entire day, he was still tripping at 4am, I’ve never touched it so was really like the outsider looking in with no chance of ever understanding his experience. For me, I would hate a… Read more »

You don’t want this guy on the podcast… He barely has *any* idea of what he’s talking about. He doesn’t even know what biochemistry is (because the study of plant chemistry and alkaloids is called phytochemistry). A lot of the stuff he spouted off as fact was incorrect. Adam clearly picked up on the fact that this guy was just another one of the many people who spout off info they grabbed from internet forums and maybe a college course or two, and then regurgitate it all as if it was fact (that’s why he even says “i wish more… Read more »

Yeah, he is a lightweight. Like he said, he is an undergrad that worked in a lab (once?). I have a hard time calling him a biochemist– he’s a student. Keen, but still a student. Give him a few years and he might be worth talking to.

I know this guy, he’s definitely a student, but a PhD student and obtaining his doctorate in a few months. He studies structural biology by mass spectrometry methods, mainly photolytic crosslinking and covalent labeling, and is also developing software to support massive data analysis. He may not be an expert in psychedelics, but he’s no dummy. He’s a conscious communicator of science and tries to make high-level science accessible to the laymAn (he often uses metaphors to explain more complex subject matter), so I wouldn’t have expected him to talk about intricate details in phytochemistry. To me it looks like… Read more »
